Hand Mirror

The mirror handle is made of pure fish teeth. The front side of the mirror is without decoration, plain, and glazed; while the back side is decorated with golden mounting tehcnique. The composition of a dragon and a simurg in a battle is furnished on the surface. In the first half of the 16th century, approximately around 1525, decorated mirrors appeared in The Ottoman Palace. The mirror -which is decorated with the characteristic motifs of the far-eastern saz style- also reflect this far-eastern approach on the sides. This piece is probably made by one of the craftmen of the court in the middle of 16th century.
